Jennifer received her B.S. from Clemson University in Biological Sciences. She went on to receive her M.A. in Teaching: Secondary Science from the University of New Hampshire. She has her Massachusetts Teaching License 9-12 Science: Biology and her New Hampshire License 7-12 Science: Biology and General Science. She has been teaching and tutoring for over 13 years in the areas of math, science, technology and study skills. She has had additional experience with learning disabilities, anxiety and executive functioning challenges.

In her free time Jen enjoys soccer, painting, drawing and spending time with her twin boys.

 


Julianna S. 

Tutors Julianna received her BA in Anthropology from the University of California in San Diego.  She went on to receive her BS in Management Science from UCSD as well.  She has received her Praxis Mathematics certificate with recognition of Excellence for High Score.  She has been a writing tutor at Jackson State Community College and Adjunct Professor of Mathematics at Jackson State as well.  Julianna has over 12 years’ experience teaching and tutoring. Julianna’s expertise is math (all levels) including SAT/ACT prep specialists. She enjoys working with a diverse community of students of all ages and goals.

 

 


Karen GowellKaren G. 

Karen received her B.A. in Psychology from New England College. She then went on to receive her B.A. in Elementary Education and Special Education with a focus in English education and writing from New England College. She then received her M.A. in Teaching from Grand Canyon University. Karen has been teaching and tutoring for 16 years, grades 5-12, and covering English, Reading, Writing and Math through Algebra 1. She holds certifications in both North Carolina and New Hampshire. Karen loves the outdoors; hiking, camping, volleyball but her first love is working with struggling children.

 


Samantha B. – Reading/Writing Specialist ★

Sam received her B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Education and French from the University of Southern Maine Portland. She went on to receive her M.Ed. in Reading/Writing from the University of New Hampshire. She holds her license and certifications for Reading/Writing Literacy Specialist K-12. Sam has been a Reading Specialist and Literacy Coach since 2000 teaching in the SAU #61 school district. Sam additionally holds certification as a Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) tester and trainer and Wilson Certified Instructor.

Sam has enriched the lives of many of our students on the Seacoast struggling with unique learning challenges. Her students adopt her like a second grandmother and quickly engage. She has worked with grades K through college level in Reading, Writing, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, and SAT/ACT prep.

Ron is a local boy graduating from Bishop Guertin in Nashua. He went on to receive his B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from Eckerd College in Florida. Ron has been with us since 2011 and has helped many of our uniquely challenged, and mainstream students alike find success with all levels of Math, including Trigonometry and Statistics, as well as the Sciences from Biology, Chemistry, and Earth to Geology. Ron also specializes in working with students struggling with anxiety.

Derek F.

Derek F. – Computer Programming, Design, Gaming, Math All Levels

Derek holds his A.A. in Audio Production from the New England Institute of Art, and has completed his M.A. – B.S.E. in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. Derek has worked across the country in Theater Production, Film Production, and Computer Graphic Design. Derek is our expert when it comes to Computer Programming, Design, Gaming Tutoring, and Math All Levels.

Skyping is his preferred tutoring vehicle as he is so busy with many projects.

He loves sharing his knowledge and passion with students of all ages.

 


 

Kim H. – Math Specialist ★

Kim H.Kim has been tutoring our students since 2012. She received her B.S. in Secondary Education Mathematics/Biology from the University of Maine at Farmington. Kim has been a Math and Physics teacher since 1992. She has worked at Deering High School, ConVal High School, and Sylvan Learning Centers. She has worked with students in grades 5th through adult and currently works full-time at Dover Adult Education Center. She loves to tutor Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, Finite Math, GED prep, and SAT prep.

Kim enjoys the outdoors with her family skiing, hiking, and biking. She is very involved in her community and was past president of her daughter’s PTA.

 

 


Susan H. – Orton-Gillingham Specialist

Susan received her B.S. in Recreation and Parks Administration specializing in Therapeutic Recreation from Illinois State University. Susan completed her advanced training in the Orton-Gillingham method of remediation in 2009 and has since worked successfully with students in the Dover Schools, Rochester Schools, and the Children’s Dyslexia Centers – Seacoast Learning Center. Susan is best at working one on one and has worked with a range of disabilities.

Susan lives in South Berwick, ME and is very active in her community and the local Boy Scouts.


Cynthia D. – Math and Science Specialist  Android Skype-24x24

Cindy received her B.A. in Biochemistry with a minor in Education from Smith College. She then received her M.Ed. in Science, Math and Health from Smith College and was granted her Massachusetts teaching license. She earned a second Master’s in Allied Health from Northeastern University and completed additional training as an Emergency Medical Technician with her state and national certifications as EMT.

Cindy has been a teacher, tutor, mentor, athletic trainer, physician assistant, and head coach for JV Field Hockey. Her specialties are Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry, Biology, General Sciences, and SAT and ACT prep. She is a NET certified Executive Skills Coach.  adores her students and works exceptionally well with those struggling with ADD/ADHD and executive function challenges. She is an avid reader, sports enthusiast and puzzle freak!

Bruce L. – Science and Math Specialist

Bruce received his B.A. in Psychology from the University of New Hampshire.  He went on to receive his M.Ed. in Counseling from UNH and his M.S. in Environmental Science from Johns Hopkins University.  He holds his NH Experienced Educator Certificates for Guidance K-12, General Science 7-12, Earth Science 7-12. Bruce has over 30 years of teaching experience both at the grade school and college level.  He additionally has experience coordinating and executing several study and travel abroad programs as well as enrichment programs. Although retired from teaching, Bruce can not stop contributing to the education community with his gifted ability to reach students of all levels and get them excited about math and science.

Jamie received her BA in English from the University of Oregon. She went on to receive her MFA in Creative non-fiction from Pennsylvania State University. Her experience includes graduate lecturer and English instructor at Penn State and Writing Program instructor at Rutgers University. She has worked mostly with grades 9-college level both in the classroom and through her work with the U.S. Forest service. She is a Seacoast mom who has traveled around the world and brings her diverse experiences into her learning model for her students. For New England Tutors, Jamie is an English reading and writing tutor, SAT/ACT/SSAT prep specialist and certified NET Executive Skills Coach who works with high school and college level students looking to build and enhance their executive functions.

 

 


Beth P.Beth P. – English

Beth studied abroad at the National University of Ireland for English and Irish cultural studies. She received her B.S. in International Business with a minor in Collegiate Seminar/English from Saint Mary’s College of California then went on to get her M.S. in Teaching English from the University of New Hampshire. She has taught English, Science and Math at the Middle School level and College Prep and Honors English at the High School level for over 10 years.

She holds her teaching license in Massachusetts and New Hampshire and resides over the boarder in Berwick, ME. She specializes in college essay writing as well as ACT and SAT prep.

 


Deborah M. – Reading, Math, Special Education, Home School Specialist ★

Deborah recently settled in New Hampshire from Vermont where she resided for almost 17 years raising her family and homeschooling 3 of them. She received her B.S. in Physical Education from Plymouth State College. Over the past 30 years she has been a school teacher grades K-12, Physical Education teacher, coach and instructor at the high school and college level (Lacrosse, Cross-country, Soccer, Softball, Field Hockey, Basketball), and a Math and Reading tutor.

In her spare time she has enjoyed teaching Sunday school, being a youth group leader, workshop creator, and presenter. Deb is happiest when she is working with vibrant and motivated young students.

French and Spanish Specialist, TutorHannah L. – French and Spanish Specialist

Hannah received her A.A. from Bard College at Simon’s Rock with a focus on French and Spanish Literature. She studied abroad at la Sorbonnein Paris, France.  She is currently finishing her B.S. in Humanities at New College.  Hannah loves languages and enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for world cultures with her students.

 

 


 

Kimberly C. – Math Specialist

Kim received her BA in Psychology from the University of New Hampshire. She went on to receive her BS in Mathematics Education from UNH as well. She has taught in the Rye Junior High School, Greenland and Rye School district and Hooksett school district. She is a math specialist for elementary math through Algebra 3 and statistics. She is also fluent in American sign language. Kim holds membership with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and New Hampshire Teachers of Mathematics.

In her spare time she enjoys her photography, Art, Scrapbooking and playing video games with her children.


Heather B. – Math & Science

Heather received her BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Cellular Biology from the University of New Hampshire. Concurrently she received her BA in English Literature and minored in International Affairs, concentration in Italian. She is a recent graduate and new to the NET team and specializes in Biology, chemistry, algebra 1 and 2, geometry, and English. She great subject knowledge and passion to her work.

 


 Alex S. – Math & Science

Alex received his B.S. in Civil Engineering with a minor in Geospatial Technologies from the University of Vermont. Alex has been an industry professional for the past 3 years.  His love of teaching started when he began ski instructing at Bolton Valley Resort.  This continued as he went on to received his Level II Small Boat Racing Coach certificate. He has enjoyed coaching and teaching youth his passion of sailing and all things math and science.  His non-traditional approach to math has made him an immediate favorite of our students.


Jessica B. - Reading & WritingJessica B. – Reading & Writing

Jessica received her B.A in English/Teacher Certification from Plymouth State University in 2007. After beginning to work at Sanborn Regional Middle School as an 8th grade Language Arts teacher she went on to get her M.Ed in Teaching Writing. Jessica has worked at Sanborn for eight years and has taught, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Language Arts.

Jessica enjoys reading a wide variety of books, and traveling when she can. Jessica enjoys spending time outside when possible, and coaching track for 6 years helped make that easier!

 


 

Kathy (KC) C. – English & Writing ★

Kathy (known as KC) has a B.S. in English from Barnard College in NYC, NY, and went on to receive her B.A. in Marketing from the School of Business at Columbia University. In her previous life, she could be found on Madison Avenue as a copywriter and freelance writer. Her specialty is College Prep English and Writing. KC can be found helping the non-profit organization 68 Hours of Hunger.

 


Katherine F.Katherine F. – History & Reading, Working with Individuals with Learning Disabilities

Katherine received her B.A. in History from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She went on to receive her MTEL certifications in History, Communications and Literacy. She is currently completing her Master’s in Education from Southern New Hampshire University. Her experience includes teaching Middle and High School for SAU 41 in Hollis, teaching at the The Italian Home for Children, and working extensively with children with ADD/ADHD, LD and PSTD challenges.

 


Shelby H. – Math & Science

Shelby studied at Franklin Pierce University for two years and then transferred to the University of New Hampshire Manchester Campus where she is completing her degree in Biology. She has been successfully tutoring students in math and sciences since 2012.

 


Don R.Don R. – High School Science & Math

Don has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from the University of Massachusetts, and a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern in Boston, MA. He comes to New England Tutors after a 35 year career as an engineer in the defense and aerospace industry. Don taught many technical courses to young engineers during his career. His focus is math and science (Physics and Chemistry). As a New Hampshire resident, he enjoys skiing, kayaking, and hiking.

Matt received his B.A. in Psychology from the University of New Hampshire. He went on to receive his dual teacher certification for elementary/special education. he is currently finishing his M.Ed. from Southern New Hampshire University. Matthew has been teaching and tutoring since 2007 an has  been successful in a variety of teaching environments with students of varying abilities. Matthew is an avid hiker and sailor.

Katherine received her BS in Mathematics with a minor in Physics from Belmont Abbey College, North Carolina. She has done business/statistics work at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and has worked with students for the past 2 years as Dean of students at Northeast Catholic College. Katherine is a specialist in Algebra 1, 2, 3, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Geometry, and Physics.

Lisa received her B.S. in Human Movement from Boston University. She went on to receive her A.S. as a Physical Therapist from Hesser College.   She additionally received her M.ED in General Special Education K-12 from Plymouth State and her graduate certificate in Autism from the University of New Hampshire. Lisa has over 17 years of teaching, coaching and counselling. She has extensive experience with literacy and reading intervention. Lisa is a passionate teacher and mentor to all her students finding a special connection where many cannot.

 

 


Susan D.Susan D. – Math Specialist

Susan earned a B.A. in Psychology from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA and an M.Ed in Early Childhood Education from the University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH. She was an elementary school teacher for twenty years where she specialized in teaching and learning mathematics. Her career then took her to Portsmouth and Rochester, NH where she served as a Math/Science Coordinator. Susan is currently self-employed as a Mathematics Coach and Professional Development Facilitator. She enjoys being outdoors to garden, kayak, and bike ride, and walk.

 

 


Alexandra C.- Math Specialist 

Alexandra received her BS in Secondary Education- Mathematics from the University of Vermont, Burlington. She has been tutoring and teaching since 2013. She brings experiences as a teacher of  English  as a foreign language in Costa Rica, Americorps Youth Coordinator, online teacher of K-12 curriculum. For New England Tutors, Alex is a math specialists who works with grades 5-12.  In her free time she enjoys lacrosse, hiking and skiing.
